Man charged after Arlington police find bombmaking materials during search

A man has been charged after police in Arlington County, Virginia, say they found bombmaking materials and two pipe bombs during a search on North Stuart Street.

Ryan Bosnick, 34, has been charged with two counts of possession of explosive materials or devices, possession of a sawed-off shotgun and threats of death or bodily injury to a person. He鈥檚 being held without bond.

The police said in a statement Wednesday that they got a call Monday evening from two people eating at a restaurant on North Fillmore Street who said Bosnick, who had been eating and drinking with them, was threatening people.

The witnesses said Bosnick opened his backpack and revealed 鈥渁 two-piece shotgun made from metal pipes and a bag containing suspected shotgun ammunition,鈥 the police said.

The police say they got in contact with a woman he was allegedly making threats to, who told them Bosnick had been sending her threatening texts.

Bosnick was arrested Tuesday afternoon near his home on North Stuart Street. When the police searched his apartment, they said, they found the homemade shotgun and two improvised explosive devices.

 

Twice the bomb squad was called, as initially an all-clear was given.
