The county’s Police Department posted the video on social media.

Authorities say it all happened Sunday night, when someone saw the llama near the intersection of Fairfax County Parkway and Popes Head Road. Police were then alerted.

“After eluding our officers, the llama was found in a backyard and safely taken,” Fairfax County police wrote on Facebook.

The llama is now in custody at the Fairfax County Animal Shelter. The llama has not been charged with any crime, but the shelter would like to hear from you if you’re her legal guardian.

House Republicans criticized over ‘sexualized’ photos in Commanders memo /washington-commanders/2022/12/house-republicans-criticized-over-sexualized-photos-in-commanders-memo/ Tue, 13 Dec 2022 20:54:37 +0000 /?p=24316353 The lawyers representing dozens of former Commanders cheerleaders called out House Republicans on Tuesday, saying they disseminated 鈥渟exualized and salacious photographs鈥 of former cheerleaders in a memo last week.

In a statement Tuesday, the lawyers singled out Rep. James Comer, who represents Kentucky鈥檚 1st Congressional District and is the ranking GOP member of the House Oversight Committee. Comer has been critical of the investigation of the Commanders, carried out by House Democrats who currently lead the panel.

And the photos 鈥 which the lawyers say “show women鈥檚 breasts, buttocks and genital areas鈥 鈥 were included with the GOP response to the committee鈥檚 investigation.

The committee’s report accused the Commanders of a 鈥渢oxic work culture,鈥 and it accused owner Daniel Snyder of inappropriately touching a former employee and of producing a video of “sexually suggestive footage” of cheerleaders.

鈥淥ur clients are both humiliated and incensed by the GOP鈥檚 reckless dissemination of these photographs in an official Congressional document,鈥 attorneys Lisa Banks and Debra Katz wrote to Comer in a letter Tuesday. 鈥淭hey also feel retaliated against by Republican Committee members who have apparently chosen to embarrass them publicly for coming forward.

鈥淭here was simply no legitimate reason for GOP members to have done this, and it has caused our clients additional and unnecessary pain. Our clients believe that releasing these photos was a desperate effort to protect Mr. Snyder from the scathing findings contained in the Committee鈥檚 final report, at their expense.鈥

The Oversight Committee began its investigation after the NFL declined to release a report on its own review of the team鈥檚 workplace.

Banks and Katz said the photos could have been referenced instead of attached in the GOP memo, and they demand that the photos be removed from congressional servers, websites and the Congressional Record.

In a statement Tuesday afternoon, a Republican committee aide said the Oversight Committee is not “the proper venue” for an investigation of the Commanders.

“Republicans issued an internal memo that included information showing that there is more evidence to be considered,” the aide said. “Prior to circulating the internal memo, Committee staff took steps to ensure all sensitive images involving cheerleaders were redacted and their identities kept confidential.”

How lights, parades and other events will impact DC-area roads this holiday season /holidays/2022/12/how-lights-parades-and-other-events-will-impact-dc-area-roads-this-holiday-season/ Mon, 05 Dec 2022 20:00:19 +0000 /?p=24291027 There are a number of reasons why the holidays can be so stressful, and while gift shopping and family drama normally top the list, another one can be fighting D.C. traffic to either take in or just avoid seasonal events.

Here鈥檚 a rundown of a few of the area鈥檚 larger holiday events, and some insights from the 小萝莉影视 Traffic team on how they will impact area roads.

Zoo Lights will be on from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. for several days through Dec. 30 at D.C.鈥檚 National Zoo. 鈥淶oo Lights leads to evening delays on Beach Drive and Connecticut Avenue through Woodley Park without fail,鈥 said 小萝莉影视 Traffic reporter Dave Dildine.

at the Washington D.C. Temple in Kensington, Maryland, runs from dusk to 9 p.m. starting Dec. 1 through Jan. 2. Fortunately, Dildine doesn鈥檛 expect it to impact nearby major roads too much.

鈥淭raffic will back up on Stonybrook Drive on the busiest nights, but the lines seldom affect larger roads,鈥 he said. 鈥淭here鈥檚 usually some police direction in and out of the parking lots.鈥

骋补颈迟丑别谤蝉产耻谤驳鈥檚 runs through Dec. 31 (except Christmas Day) starting at 6 p.m. at Seneca Creek State Park. The festival is 鈥渘otorious for creating long delays鈥 on Route 117/Clopper Road, Dildine said. The event can also affect traffic on Route 124 and Interstate 270.

鈥淕ame Preserve Road is usually a bad shortcut since it’s very confined and windy,鈥 Dildine added.

at Brookside Gardens in Montgomery County, Maryland, will be open most evenings from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. through Jan. 2. While it鈥檚 typically a popular event, Dildine said it shouldn鈥檛 lead to long traffic delays.

continues nightly from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. through Jan. 1 at Watkins Regional Park in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. The Prince George鈥檚 County Department of Parks and Recreation recommends that visitors enter along Route 202; Dildine notes that long lines formed along nearby Route 193 last year.

runs from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. through Jan. 1 at Sandy Point State Park in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. Big crowds are normal, Dildine said, and on the busiest nights, it can cause congestion on the service road 鈥渁nd even on Route 50 itself west of the Bay Bridge.鈥

In Centreville, Virginia, the runs nightly through Jan. 8 starting at 5:30 p.m. Backups can be long on Bull Run Post Office Road, Dildine said, but they haven鈥檛 impacted Route 29 much the last few years. Organizers advise visitors who want to avoid crowds to come on weeknights. The weekend before and the weekend after Christmas draw the heaviest crowds.

‘He is Fairfax County鈥檚 most wanted’ — reward increased for suspect in fatal shooting /fairfax-county/2022/11/he-is-fairfax-countys-most-wanted-reward-increased-for-suspect-in-fatal-shooting/ Wed, 30 Nov 2022 20:51:06 +0000 /?p=24275411 Fairfax County, Virginia, police are still searching for the suspect in an October shooting that killed a 31-year-old Maryland man.

And on Wednesday, they announced the reward for his arrest has jumped from $1,000 to $11,000.

Kyjuan鈥疧mar Braxton鈥疶rott-McLean, 43, of Mount Vernon is wanted in the shooting death of Brandon Wims.

鈥淲e know that Trott-McLean knows that he is wanted,鈥 Chief Kevin Davis said during a news conference Wednesday. “We know that he’s still local. And we know that he’s playing games with the Fairfax County Police Department.”

鈥淎nd while he’s playing his games, he’s putting this community at risk.鈥

Wims was shot around 7 a.m. Oct. 2 in the 5800 block of St. Gregory’s Lane, in the Alexandria area of the county. Authorities say Trott-McLean exited a鈥痵ilver Nissan Sentra with Maryland tags 2ET4005 and shot Wims, who later died at a hospital.

Wims was the great-nephew of Gregory Wims, who founded the . It is contributing $5,000 to the reward, with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives contributing another $5,000.

鈥淚n our 26-year history, we have never had a member of our own family 鈥 whether it be volunteer or blood family member 鈥 to be killed by a very bad person,鈥 Wims said Wednesday.

鈥淗e was not able to defend himself,鈥 the victim鈥檚 mother said at Wednesday鈥檚 news conference as she held back tears.

鈥淭he killer just came up on him and just shot him. He wasn’t able to do anything but sit there and just take bullet after bullet after bullet. And no one deserves to die like that.鈥

Trott-McLean faces charges of second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, felon in possession of a firearm, and felon in possession of ammunition.

鈥淲e think the announcement of this enhanced reward will rattle the cage a little bit, because we need to get Trott-McLean off the street,鈥 Davis said.

In the 60 days since Wims鈥 death, police have even heard from Trott-McLean in the form of a 911 call, said Maj. Ed O鈥機arroll, who is the bureau commander of the department鈥檚 major crimes and cyber and forensics bureaus.

鈥淗e knows he’s wanted. He actually says that he’s wanted for murder. So he has some responsibility to turn himself in,鈥 said O鈥機arroll.

Police now believe that someone is helping the suspect, and Davis cautioned that anyone lending aid would be subject to charges themselves.

Trott-McLean is believed to be armed and dangerous. Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or Fairfax County Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS (866-411-8477).

鈥淗e is Fairfax County鈥檚 most wanted,鈥 O鈥機arroll said.

Disney-themed kids clothes recalled over lead concerns /recalls/2022/11/disney-themed-kids-clothes-recalled-over-lead-concerns/ Fri, 25 Nov 2022 02:57:16 +0000 /?p=24258424 Lead concerns have prompted a recall of about 87,000 Disney-themed clothing sets for children.

Bentex Group distributed the clothing to stores such as TJMAXX, DD’s/Ross, Burlington, Army & Air Force Exchange Service and Amazon from November 2021 through this past August.

It says nine types of sets are being recalled because of textile ink that had lead levels exceeding federal limits.

Photos of the clothing sets 鈥 and the effected batch numbers 鈥 can be found on .

If the item and batch number matches what鈥檚 printed on an item鈥檚 neck or side label, the clothing should be taken away from the child immediately. Bentex also should be contacted for instructions on returning or disposing the recalled clothing 鈥 and to receive a refund.

To contact Bentex, email recall@bentex.com. You can also call 800-451-0285 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern time Mondays through Thursdays or from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Fridays.
