D.C. police said officers found the unconscious child at 4th Street and Massachusetts Avenue, around 2 p.m.

Police said the boy was pronounced dead at the scene after apparently falling from an apartment window.

Police told 小萝莉影视 a “death investigation” is underway.

Montgomery County Public Schools said Westland Middle School in Bethesda experienced damage due to the rainy and windy weather over the weekend, “causing structural damage affecting classrooms in the rear of the building.”

The school, which was closed on Monday, remain closed on Tuesday “out of an abundance of caution” for debris cleanup, the school district said

“(Monday), a crane was brought in, crews worked to remove the tree, and a structural engineer assessed the building,” the statement said. “Three classrooms will need to be closed until repairs are complete; however, ongoing cleanup efforts of loose bricks, roofing materials, etc., cause safety concerns.”

Damages to the building couldn’t be assessed until the tree was removed, MCPS said. In total, 18 classrooms were closed off.

“MCPS facilities and construction teams will be planning for all repairs to fully restore the building as soon as possible,” MCPS said.

Tuesday is scheduled to be the last day of classes before summer break in Montgomery County.

Police said first responders responded to a call in the 5300 block of Harrow Lane near Ashleigh Road around 10:30 a.m. in the Braddock area.

When they arrived on the scene, they found a child who had drowned in a residential pool.

The child, who was transported to a hospital, later died.

Police are investigating the drowning.

Howard County police said it happened in Jessup after 3 p.m.

The driver of a Hyundai Sonata, which was later registered as stolen, when the car crossed the double yellow line to try to pass a Tesla as it was attempting to make a left turn onto Twelve Sons Court.

The Hyundai sideswiped the Tesla, then sideswiped a Honda Fit, before crashing head-on with a Honda Civic, police said.

The driver of the Honda Civic, Bonnie Fuller Griffith, 69, of Columbia, was pronounced dead at Howard County General Hospital, police said.

After the crash, police said four “juvenile males” fled the Hyundai by foot. One of them was injured in the collision and was taken to University of Maryland R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center.

He is listed in serious but stable condition. The other three “juvenile males” in the Hyundai Sonata were listed as “outstanding,” police said.

Guilford Road was closed at Mission Road for approximately four hours Saturday.

Police said this is an ongoing investigation and charges haven’t been filed yet.

Maryland State Police said Chaquanda Latise Odom, 36, of California, Maryland, was shot and killed in Lexington Park.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, .

Troopers responded to the shooting on Liberty Street in Lexington Park just after 11 a.m. on Friday. That’s where they found Odom with multiple gunshot wounds, police said.

Police arrested Odom鈥檚 ex-husband, Jayson David Pressley, 38, also of Lexington Park, after he turned himself in. Pressley is charged with first- and second-degree murder and is being held without bond.

U.S. Capitol Police said it happened just before 10 a.m. Wednesday. According to police, the driver was a 26-year-old man from Georgia who was a telecommunications employee going to perform work in the area.

The man drove onto the sidewalk along Maryland Avenue NW and parked in the grass near Constitution Avenue and Third Street NW, police said in a news release.

Police took a man into custody on a charge of reckless driving. They determined the vehicle was safe.

Nearby roads were closed during the investigation and drivers and pedestrians were told to avoid the area.

鈥淒riving on the sidewalk is never a good idea 鈥� especially anywhere near the U.S. Capitol Building,鈥� U.S. Capitol Police Chief J. Thomas Manger said in a news release. 鈥淚 am proud of our officers for their quick reaction. We have already been ramping up security, as planned, ahead of a busy month at the U.S. Capitol.鈥�

The incident comes just a day after a man plowed through a crowd in New Orleans, killing more than a dozen people. D.C. Police and Metro Transit Police released statements promising heightened security around the District out of an abundance of caution following the New Year鈥檚 Day rampage.

D.C. officials said there was no known threat in the District, but that they would post more officers around the city.

In the next three weeks, multiple major events, such as the inauguration, will take place, in which D.C. officials have already promised heightened security measures and police presence.

The officers responded to a reported shooting in the area of Charles and William Streets at around 1 a.m. after hearing gunfire.

Authorities said they found 23-year-old Tyler Lee Jones, of Fredericksburg, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a hospital where he later died.

The investigation into this case is ongoing but police have initially identified Elijah Musgrove as the possible suspect. the police department said Musgrove is wanted on multiple charges including second-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and other weapons-related charges.

D.C. police said officers responded to the sound of gunfire in an area of the cemetery to the rear of the 5000 block of First Street, just after 4:45 p.m.

Officers found 22-year-old Brandon Ward, of Northwest, in serious condition inside the cemetery. He was pronounced dead at the scene, .

On Saturday, the police department issued a lookout for a man wearing a white medical mask, black jacket, black denim jeans and black shoes.

Craig Rogers II, 27, of Bowie, died on Sept. 20. Prince George’s County police found him shot on the roadway in the 1000 block of Largo Center Drive near Largo Town Center. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

On Tuesday, police arrested Malik Watson, 21, of Upper Marlboro, on charges of first- and secon-degree murder. that Watson and Rogers knew each other.

Officers responded to a call on 50th Street in Northeast near Kelly Miller Middle School around noon.

Security cameras captured images of the thieves approaching the mail carrier and demanding his property.

Police said the suspects implied to the letter carrier that they were armed.

The postman complied and the pair fled.

Deangelo Wooten, 27, sent text messages to the teenage girl, who is 10 years younger than he is, according to. from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia.

Police said that Wooten made multiple threats before the shooting. On Jan. 20, 2024, he texted the girl “imma shoot you dead in your face,” police said.

The victim, who was 16 years old at the time, told police that she originally thought he was just trying to get a reaction from her.

The girl met up with Wooten in Southeast D.C. to exchange a pair of shoes. During the meetup at 13th Street and Congress Street SE, Wooten pulled out a gun and started shooting, according to the news release.

The victim was shot in the arm and the bullet “grazed her back,” according to the release. She was treated at a hospital.

Wooten, of no fixed address, plead guilty on July 19 and was sentenced last week.

The victims are students with disabilities who range in age from 4 to 5 years old, according to the Spotsylvania, Virginia, Sheriff鈥檚 Office.

The sheriff’s office child victim unit arrested Miguel Velasquez Velasco, 22, of Fredericksburg.

Velasco faces charges including aggravated sexual battery of a child and indecent liberties of a child while in a custodial role. He’s being held in jail without bond.

School authorities notified detectives after having suspicions a student was inappropriately touched on a school bus.

The crash happened just before 7 p.m. on Friday at the intersection of Old Bridge Road and Occoquan Road.

The crash caused an explosion that rattled nearby buildings, police said.

When officers arrived, they found the silver sedan engulfed in flames. The driver died at the scene.

Police said a preliminary investigation shows the driver had placed gasoline in the cab just before the crash, which caused that massive fire.

The identity of the driver has yet to be released.
