The 9:30 Club in D.C. will play host to a new variety show set to air on public television starting in the spring.
The first season of 鈥淟ive at 9:30鈥 will produce a 12-episode run featuring music, comedy, interviews and short films, . Such acts as Garbage, Jesus and Mary Chain and Cold War Kids will play on the first three shows. Comedian Hannibal Buress, NPR Music host Bob Boilen and punk rock legend Henry Rollins will be among the hosts.
that 40 performances have been recorded for the show. The model is similar to that of the long-running 鈥淎ustin City Limits,鈥 but that hour-long show features a complete music performance.
The original 9:30 Club opened in 1980 and became home to D.C. hardcore punk scene along with being a launching pad for up-and-coming alternative and new wave acts. The current V Street NW location hosts some of the biggest names in music. The venue is owned and managed by Seth Hurwitz and his company, I.M.P.
