Body found in driveway of abandoned DC house may be missing woman

WASHINGTON — A body found in the driveway of an abandoned house in Northeast D.C. may be that of a woman who was reported missing the day after Thanksgiving, D.C. police Chief Peter СÂÜÀòÓ°ÊÓham said Tuesday.

СÂÜÀòÓ°ÊÓham said police are investigating it as a “very suspicious death.”

СÂÜÀòÓ°ÊÓham said officers were called to a house in the 300 block of 34th Street Northeast shortly after 8:30 a.m. Tuesday after a neighbor called police.

СÂÜÀòÓ°ÊÓham said the body was discovered in a driveway in the rear of an unoccupied house.

“We’re going to work very quickly to try and identify the victim here,” СÂÜÀòÓ°ÊÓham said. “We have a strong belief that it could possibly the person who was reported missing.”

If it is, “It’s very sad for her family to lose somebody over the holiday season,” СÂÜÀòÓ°ÊÓham said.

An autopsy will determine the cause of death, and police will see if any surveillance cameras in the neighborhood recorded anything that could be used as evidence. СÂÜÀòÓ°ÊÓham asked anyone who may have information about the woman’s death to call D.C. police at 202-727-9099.
