WASHINGTON 鈥� President Donald Trump delivered the first State of the Union address of his presidency on Tuesday, while a joint session of Congress and much of the nation watched.
Addressing a deeply divided nation, Trump called upon lawmakers Tuesday night to 鈥渟ummon the unity鈥� to make good on long-standing promises to fix the nation鈥檚 crumbling infrastructure and fractured immigration systems, infusing his presidency with a sense of optimism, for at least one high-profile night.
The president touted recent tax cuts and reduced regulation, and covered the familiar issues of immigration and North Korea.
