Marine Corps Marathon 10K is returning to the National Mall

WASHINGTON 鈥 The Marine Corps Marathon 10K聽鈥 which had moved into Arlington County, Virginia, last year so runners聽would not have to contend with Metro track work 鈥 is returning this fall to the National Mall.

The popular annual 10K 鈥 held each year during Marine Corps Marathon weekend 鈥 will start Oct. 22 on the Mall outside the National Gallery of Art. The 10K coincides with 鈥渢he People’s Marathon,鈥 and both runs finish together at the Marine Corps War Memorial (aka the Iwo Jima Memorial).

From the Mall, the run will proceed across the 14th Street Bridge through Crystal City, past the Pentagon and on to the finish line at the memorial.

聽is $55 and begins Thursday聽for the 6.2-mile run. Runners will receive various souvenirs and can enjoy post-event hospitality and live entertainment throughout the course. They can also attend a two-day health and fitness expo at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in Oxon Hill, Maryland.

In addition, $8 for the MCM Kids Run also opens Thursday. The 1-mile fun run is open to ages 5 to 12. Spots are available for 3,600 kids.

The MCM Kids Run includes music, mascots from numerous sports teams and organizations, healthy snacks and free entry into Camp Miles, an interactive health and fitness festival.
