Maryland provides grants for more police equipment

WASHINGTON 鈥斅燩olice departments across the state of Maryland are getting some added protection.

From Allegany to Worcester County, police departments large and small are getting additional state funding in the form of grants to cover the cost of body armor.

The funding was announced by Gov. Larry Hogan鈥檚 Office of Crime Control and Prevention.

Baltimore City is getting the largest amount: $14,000. Carroll County鈥檚 Hampstead Police Department will get $315.

The money will go to fund new or replacement body armor which can include items like protective vests.
