Littered gum means big business for D.C. man

WASHINGTON – Call him Detective Gumshoe.

reports Duane Cummins of D.C. makes up to $100,000 a year cleaning gum off local streets.

The 49-year-old runs the company Gum Busters D.C. He uses a wand-like gadget to blow steam on dried-up gum, which dissolves it in three to five seconds.

Cummins charges 15 to 40 cents per square foot and gets most of his business from commercial office buildings, government facilities and college campuses.

The Post reports each job brings in between $200 and $10,000.
