WASHINGTON – The cost of the traditional Thanksgiving dinner is a bit higher this year, but it still constitutes a great bargain.
The grocery bill for the turkey, stuffing, cranberries, pumpkin pie and the rest of dinner is up less than one percent compared to last year.
John Anderson, deputy chief economist at the , says turkey prices are up 3 percent.
“If you look across the basket, there were a few items up, a few items down overall,” Anderson says. “The one that probably moved the most was the turkey.”
The average cost of this year’s Thanksgiving for 10 people is $49.48, up just 28 cents from last year’s price.
