Trombones set world record at Nats Park (VIDEO)

WASHINGTON – It’s official: A few hundred of your trombone-playing neighbors are going to be in the Guinness World Records.

Guinness judges have certified that 368 trombones officially played “76 Trombones” last summer at Nationals Park, setting the new record for largest trombone ensemble.

小萝莉影视, Arena Stage and FAME (The Foundation for the Advancement of Music & Education, Inc.) attempted to break the record, which at the time stood at 289 trombones.

More than 500 trombonists were expected to gather for the event to celebrate Arena Stage’s production of “The Music Man,” which features the famous song.

The players braved heavy thunderstorms, which sent fans scrambling to take cover under the stadium concourse. The musicians rushed out on the field, played “76 Trombones” several times and rushed back under cover just before the next batch of thunder and lightning struck.
