WOODBRIDGE, Va. 鈥� Twice this week, threats of violence were found written on walls inside Woodbridge High School.
Prince William County Public Schools officials say the threats are not credible and that there is no present concern about the safety and security of the school鈥檚 staff or students.
The first threat was found Monday and was shared through social media. Woodbridge High School鈥檚 principal sent out a letter to parents Tuesday to address the threat, saying that it wasn鈥檛 credible and calling the sharing of the threat irresponsible.
The second threat was found Thursday, threatening violence on a specific date next week. The district addressed the newly discovered threat on Facebook, describing it as being similar to the first threat and not credible.
The school system鈥檚 posting adds that school officials and police are searching for whoever is responsible for the threats and that person will be punished appropriately.
Student Cheyenne Rose says the first threat was written in a boys’ bathroom, and she found out about it over social media. She says the threats are distracting, and she doesn’t feel safe in school anymore.
She says, 鈥淚t鈥檚 hard to concentrate at school, worrying about, like 鈥榤an, am I going to get shot today?鈥欌�� She adds that聽鈥淚t鈥檚 pretty stupid to make threats over a school. And, of course, they鈥檙e a student, so they are dumb.鈥�
Freshman Xavier Wilson says he’s not worried, but know others who are. He says of making threats,聽“It’s become a lifestyle of certain people and certain things and people just see it as an everyday thing they can do.”
Extra police are expected to be at the school.
