ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) 鈥 Texas Rangers first baseman Jake Burger left Saturday night鈥檚 game against the Los Angeles Angels after four innings with a left wrist contusion after being hit by a pitch in the third inning by Angels starter Ryan Johnson.
X-rays were negative, and he’s listed as day to day, the team said.
“That got him good. He鈥檚 pretty swollen, pretty sore,” Rangers manager Skip Schumaker said after the game, . “So far, the X-rays are negative. But we鈥檒l probably get more scans, and he鈥檒l see the doctor later tonight. But it squared him up pretty good.
鈥淗ad a tough time swinging the bat when he went down to see if he could still stay in. Burger鈥檚 one of the toughest guys I鈥檝e ever been around. So if he鈥檚 not able to go back in, you knew it was pretty sore.鈥
Burger has hit 21 home runs this season, one short of Joc Pederson鈥檚 club lead, and leads the Rangers with 73 RBIs.
