PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (AP) 鈥� Brandon King provided West Indies with an aggressive start to the second and final test against Pakistan on Sunday.
Only 9.5 overs were bowled before lunch because of rain with West Indies at 49-1. King smashed seven boundaries 鈥� six of them against debutant fast bowler Ubaid Shah 鈥� to reach 33 not out off 27 balls.
Pakistan鈥檚 lone success came just before rain took players off the field, with lunch later taken, when Tagenarine Chanderpaul (15) pulled Mohammad Ali鈥檚 short ball straight to Sajid Khan at deep fine leg.
Shah was wayward in his length as King drove the pacer for three boundaries in one over. Shah and Ali both created chances but leading edges from Chanderpaul and King flew through the vacant slip cordon for boundaries.
Left-arm spinner Ali Usman showed early promise from the wicket.
West Indies kept the same team which won the opening test at Tarouba by and Roston Chase chose to bat after winning his second successive toss under overcast conditions at Queen鈥檚 Park Oval.
Pakistan surprisingly dropped its best red-ball bowler Mohammad Abbas, who took eight wickets in the first test. Captain Babar Azam said at the toss that Abbas was left out because of the conditions, with Shah awarded his test debut.
Abbas was one of four changes for Pakistan. Shan Masood, a century-maker at Tarouba, has a . He was replaced by Abdullah Shafique.
