WASHINGTON 鈥 The Washington Redskins announced Wednesday that the team is parting ways with defensive coordinator Jim Haslett. The agreement was mutual, according to a news release.
鈥淛im and I have had discussions over the last few days and have decided that it鈥檚 best for everyone that we have a new Defensive Coordinator for the Washington Redskins. I wish him nothing but the best in the future,鈥 head coach Jay Gruden said in a statement.
鈥淛ay and I mutually agreed it鈥檚 time for the Redskins to have a new Defensive Coordinator. I want to thank Dan Snyder, Bruce Allen, Coach Gruden and all the players and fellow coaches for their efforts the last five years and I wish them nothing but the best,鈥 Haslett added, also in a statement. He had been with the team for five seasons.
Haslett’s聽departure is聽the first fallout after the Redskins finished 4-12 for their sixth last-place finish in the past seven seasons.
