It’s D.C.’s most subtle tribute to the king of rock n’ roll himself that’ll have you all shook up.
That’s right 鈥 Elvis Presley is in the building! Or at least on the water, at the Wharf in Southwest D.C.
In today’s episode of “Matt About Town,” 小萝莉影视’s Matt Kaufax slipped on his “blue suede shoes” and headed to The Wharf to find out more about Presley’s one and only performance in the District.
Dubbed as one of the hardest-to-find markers in Washington, the small plaque that commemorates Presley’s only performance in D.C. is barely wider than a couple of bricks. Embedded in the tiles of the walkway on Wharf Street in Southwest, it’s also incredibly easy to miss.
The story of Presley’s only D.C. show in March of 1956 is one of a performance that almost didn’t happen. Come along with Matt for the thrilling tale that involves another famous singer, a boat with a technical malfunction and an impromptu live performance that almost sent screaming fans into the Potomac!
