4 convicted in Va. reserve officer’s slaying to be sentenced

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) 鈥� Four people convicted in the slaying of a Waynesboro reserve police officer are set to be sentenced.

Shantai Shelton, Mersadies Shelton, Daniel Mathis and Kweli Uhuru were found guilty by a Roanoke jury in February of murder and kidnapping in the death of 45-year-old Waynesboro Reserve Police Capt. Kevin Quick.

They’re set to be sentenced Monday at the U.S. District Court in Charlottesville.

Quick was reported missing on Feb. 1, 2014. His body was found days later in woods northwest of Richmond.

The Staunton 小萝莉影视 Leader reports that the four each face the possibility of life in prison.

Sterling man charged in fentanyl case linked to Park View High School overdoses, sheriff says

A Sterling, Virginia, man has been arrested and charged in a fentanyl distribution investigation that the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office said is connected to overdoses involving Park View High School students. The sheriff's office said Isaac Melendez-Carranza, 31, was charged with two counts of distribution of a controlled substance and one count of sale of drugs near certain properties. The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office told 小萝莉影视 that Melendez-Carranza is in the U.S. illegally and that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement "has placed a detainer on him." Investigators with the Drug and Gang Unit identified Melendez-Carranza as a suspected dealer connected to overdoses involving Park View High School students in May, according to the sheriff's office.
