Monday afternoon thunderstorms could produce damaging wind gusts for DC area

Seasonably hot and humid weather continues across the D.C. area Monday, with scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms.

A few storms could become strong to severe, with damaging wind gusts the primary threat. The Storm Prediction Center places most of the D.C. region under for severe weather.

A strong cold front moving through the D.C. area Tuesday will bring a greater chance for showers and thunderstorms, some of which could become severe with damaging winds and heavy rainfall, .聽7小萝莉影视 First Alert Meteorologist Eileen Whelan told 小萝莉影视 that will place the area under a聽Slight Risk (Level 2 of 5).

Drier, sunnier and less humid conditions are expected during the second half the week.

TUESDAY: WEATHER ALERT:聽Showers, storms likely. Risk for strong afternoon storms. Highs between 80 and 85.
Winds: Southwest 10-20 mph

WEDNESDAY:聽Mostly cloudy, breezy. Isolated shower or storm, mainly south and east of D.C. Highs between 81 and 86.
Winds: Northwest 5-15 mph, gusts 20-25 mph

THURSDAY:聽Mostly sunny, breezy. Highs between 81 and 86.
Winds: Northwest 5-15 mph, gusts 20-25 mph
